Since 2002 Tendonworks has been servicing horse racing, managing racehorse tendons with innovation, practice challenging management and bespoke tendon treatments. With an enviable record of returning tendon injured racehorses to continue their racing careers, many competing again at the highest level Tendonworks has treated some of horseracing’s best horses.
Attention to detail, individual assessment and an intuitive knowledge of what is the correct path to follow provides unrivalled success rates.
In addition to delivering tendon treatments to the individual horse's tendon problems we are committed to improving the understanding of the etiology of the condition and how best to reduce the incidence which is better for horse racing and importantly the welfare of the horse.
Primarily Tendonworks provides an 'in-patient' service to horse racing. Horses stay with us for an average of twelve weeks in which time they undergo a thorough diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation process. I think many horses see their stay at Tendonworks as a great, relaxing all-inclusive holiday !
Since 2002, Tendonworks has treated over 600 racehorses, many top class so picking out a top ten is almost impossible; but here goes!
For confidentiality reasons I have not included any horses still racing.
1. Be My Royal: where it all started. 2002 Hennessy Gold Cup 'winner'. His place in racing history assured
2. War of Attrition: Cheltenham Gold Cup winner who went on to win further significant races. The first Gigginstown Stud patient
3. Captain Cee Bee: He started his great careeer by winning the Supreme Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham in 2008 going on to win over hurdles, the flat and over fences. One hell of a tough horse
4. China Rock; Rupture a tendon in the 2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup and returned in 2012 to contest the same race. He went on to win the Punchestown Gold Cup
5. Unnamed*: Significant tendon injury went on to be placed in the Melbourne Cup * confidential
6. My Tent or Yours: Suffered a significant tendon injury but went on to contest multiple championship hurdle races. What a lovey horse he is
7. Binocular: A superstar beset by injury. Probably the most naturally athletic horse from 100's I have treated. He knew he was good!
8. Mr Chunky: Not a racehorse! A top class Eventer. He would have been off to Japan to compete in the Olympics has C19 not stepped in.
9. Jezki: What a top class CV, too long to list. He would have galloped straight from his box if he could;often a handful.
10. Last Instalment: Tendons made of glass. Post injury probably one of the most impressive displays of jumping winning the Irish Hennessy Gold Cup Chase
I remember every horse I've treated having perosnally fed, walked, treadmill'd and treated them.
Every horse has it's own personality and I believe they all deserves our respect for what they do; entertain us.
The aim of TendonWorks is to return previously injured, now fully healed horses back to what they do best - race ! That supports the horse, the owner, horse racing and is helping us to better understand racehorse tendons and why there is such a high prevalence in the sport and why so many other tendon treatments are ineffective.
